Our modern mate kit is perfect combination of innovative design and traditional organic yerba mate.  Yerba Mate is a species of holly (family Aquifoliaceae) native to subtropical South America in northeastern Argentina, eastern Paraguay and Southern Brazil.  The infusion is prepared by steeping dry leaves of yerba in hot water, rather than in boiling water like black tea.  Mate has been a part of the Gaucho tradition for centuries and continues to be popular South America.
